That depends. Literally, `Linux' is just a kernel. However some would
argue that it can refer to the whole operating system (Linux kernel +
other programs, such as a text editor, compiler, etc.).

Others still argue that `Linux' should just refer to the kernel, and the
term `GNU/Linux' should be used to refer to the operating system as a
whole.  The obvious link to explain that last view would be
