Hi all, For those of you who have tried Ubuntu (or Jeff and the other developers) I have a couple of quick questions before I install it on some of my machines.
1. What is the hardware support like in it, and is it possible to get the 2.6 series kernel installed ? I ask principally because the AGP driver I need is only available in the 2.6 kernel AFAIK. 2. What is it like for recompiling kernels for specific drivers ? I have a similar problem to the above with a DVB card that has working drivers, but the drivers are a kernel patch at the moment. 3. Does it have nice easy support for setting up things like NFS and Samba ? 4. Do you have to fight with the system to install hand rolled software and the like ? It seems like you might based on the demo Jeff gave, but maybe not. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm keen to give ubuntu a go.
