Don't know if this will help, but . . .
The following manual procedure has worked for me, on an FC2 box using
dovecot as the imap server.
On the server, in ${HOME}/imap/{Account}/folders you create the
directory which will be the "nesting" folder you want. You can then
create mail folders within that from evolution.
