This drag and drop is a user interface thing and nothing to do with the 
SMB protocol which is used to do the file transfer. And little to do with 
the underlying directory structure and permissions where the files get 
stored on the server. However since from what I know of windows it seems 
to have this feature, as does Gnome (and others I'm sure) on Linux.

Only caveat with SME is that it does not setup or include NFS which you 
would tend to use with Linux workstations.
