Well, I installed KPDF. Much nicer looking. Though the toolbar says it
has a 'find' function using Ctrl + F, this isn't working for me :(
Unistall/reinstall?

Since it's not an open source product the only avenues you have is to
convince Adobe to make it look better or find a better product. If it were
open source I'm sure the look-n-feel issues would have been fixed by now.
See if you can convince Adobe to open source the product.
