How about the nice, easy, fast solution:
Edit gdm.conf (probably /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf, but I have not got an FC)
Setup 2 (or lots of X servers: near the bottom
[servers]
# These are the standard servers. You can add as many you want here
# and they will always be started. Each line must start with a unique
# number and that will be the display number of that server. Usually
# just
# the 0 server is used.
1=Standard
etc
Now user a logs in on <ctl><alt><f7>
b logs in on <ctl><alt><f8>
etc etc
Now chose your login-session and use it, independant of the other user.
