The only lockup I had (past tense) was there was a race condition if you deleted your mails to quickly (spam in inbox everything else is sent to directories because of rules) I have used evolution 1.4 on a P350 successfully with almost zero emails (used it as a reader pulling mail remotely only). There is sometimes a slow down in slug mail because I have 45,000 emails in there and purging deletes can be very consuming.
