SCLUG -- the South Coast Linux Users' Group -- will be meeting this Thursday
5th May at the University of Wollongong.

This month, Ashley Maher will be talking on OpenSkills. It is an expanded
version of the first part of Bruce's talk at the last SLUG meeting. If that
whet your appetite, or you missed Bruce's talk, come along down to the
lovely south coast and find out what OpenSkills can do for you.

Sooner or later the good life must come to an end, and we need to look for
work. The good news is there is an alternative to the Recruitment Agencies,
one focused on you, not profit.

OpenSkills is a global non-profit association of individual members.
OpenSkills exists to promote the skills of its members, and support
members in their professional endeavors.

Being a not for profit means everything OpenSkills makes is spent on
promoting members.

OpenSkills provides a skills base. This is where all members list their
skills for searching by potential employers and recruiters. Everybody with
web access has the ability to search the SkillsBase for skilled people -
which is essentially the ability to connect people together. The SkillsBase
is free to search, so nothing stands in the way of employers looking for
you.

Publicity - OpenSkills publicises its website and services - which means
that members receive the benefit of that publicity through a larger
number of people looking at your skills and offering projects to you.

So come along Thursday night to:

Location: University of Wollongong, building 39, room 217.
