Yeah, this is a problem with platforms other than x86 running Linux.
Macromedia haven't made binaries for Linux available on anything other than x86 so if you want to view flash under Linux on PPC or AMD64 you're out of luck.
I've heard people talk about running the plugin from within qemu on PPC, and there's a guide for Gentoo users at http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=117774 . I'm sure it would be fairly easily adapted for Ubuntu, just make sure you enable the universe repository in apt/aptitude/synaptic so you can install qemu.
You could always try a free flash implementation such as gplflash[1], but it doesn't support a lot of the features used in newer flash movies. The next version of it is aiming for full flash 7 compatibility, but that doesn't really help you now. :-)
