SLUG's monthly meeting featuring talks and SLUGlets. Meetings are open
to the general public, and free of charge.

Please note the change in rooms: This month's meeting will be held in
Building 2, Level 4, Room 11 at UTS Broadway (There is a map of UTS
available here).

General Talk: Robert Collins - Ubuntu Down Under Report

Special Interest Talk: Telford Tendys - The R environment for
statistical computing
If you look at http://www.r-project.org you can see that open-source
statistical computing has come a long way. If you are generating graphs
or doing any sort of data analysis then R is worth a look. This talk
gives a demo of R running on Linux and a quick overview of the language
structure and the graphics capabilities. This talk requires some basic
mathematical background. 

As usual, SLUGlets will be running in another room (CB02.05.30) during
the 2nd half of the meeting for those who do not wish to attend the 2nd
talk.
This month featuring discussion on planning for free software day and a
GPG keysigning following last month's OpenPGP talk.

        Q&A - Introduction to SLUG + "What has Linux done for/to me
        lately?" + SLUG News & Discussion
7:00pm (approx): General Talk
        Ubuntu Down Under Report
8:00pm (approx): Break
        Refreshments in the foyer, for a small covering charge.
8:20pm (approx): Split into two groups for:
              * Special Interest: The R environment for statistical
                computing
              * SLUGlets: quick talks and discussion of Linux and Free
                Software.
9:30pm (approx) Dinner
        Dinner at Spice Boys (Indian), $20 per head.
