Parts cast in a new light
Special coating solves age old problems with die casting
A revolutionary new insulating coat has been developed for the low-pressure and gravity die casting industry, which has the potential to last up to 10 times longer than traditional coatings.
This ultra-low maintenance coating is a strong, porous ceramic layer that is resistant to, and is applied to the die using a thermal spraying technique. Initially designed for the automotive industry, this new coating can be used on any die cast application.
The coating will extend the working life of the die and consequently decrease operational costs; increase the quality of the products made, and increase production profitability through its improved bonding qualities.
Its properties also reduce premature solidification resulting in less operator intervention.
While the main users of this technology will be manufacturers of lightweight allow parts, the durable insulating coat can be used across a variety of applications and industries, such as molten metal handling or wherever any insulating and wear-resistant coatings are needed.

DNA security opens new frontier!
Australia now has a new company focusing on the use of DNA technology in the Biosecurity area.
This is an exciting opportunity for Australia to lead the world in the authentication and verification of identification tagging through DNA.
This new technology combines two established technologies: the ultimate identification system of DNA Fingerprinting combined with tagging technologies using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) devices, Smart Cards and Passports incorporating smart chips.
One patented application will include DNA tracking and other information into cattle tags so that animals can be DNA tracked all the way from birth to plate!
Other patented applications include using DNA identification for document security, entering high security areas such as data warehouses, and sample tracking.
Being an emerging technology, the possibilities are endless limited only by our imaginations. If you are considering embarking on such a journey, Industry TechLink's consultants have the information to help you get a head start.

Internet security, network integrity & electronic banking
The more you use the Internet, the more you appreciate it's convenience and ease of access; particularly with services like banking. Unfortunately, the Internet gets exploited by those who want to defraud. Their approach can sometimes look surprisingly genuine.
Coupled with identity theft, network 'hackers', and the spread of malicious viruses, the Internet has solved a large number of problems, and generated a whole lot more!
If your computer network is well structured, trading over the Internet can be safe and simple. There is a range of cost effective and simple technologies to counter the risks of using the Internet.
If you need to know more about how to protect your computers, ring Industry TechLink on 1800 111 485.
Machines that think, talk and diagnose
Brace yourself because here comes the future!
Stanley Kubrick's 2001 Space Odyssey introduced the world to the HAL 9000 artificial intelligence purportedly working for the good of mankind. Unfortunately a 'glitch' in Hal's programming resulted in tragic consequences for the inhabitants of a space station.
Some 36 years later, Industry TechLink would like to introduce you to RDMS (Remote Diagnostic and Maintenance System) a system recently developed by Australian scientists and heralded as a great breakthrough in enhanced reliability and safety for industrial machinery.
For more than a century, engineers have strived to improve their methods of machine operation diagnosis and maintenance. RDMS looks like lifting the reliability and safety of a vast array of machines to new levels. In this context, 'machine' could mean anything from die-casting equipment, to an automobile engine, to generators, to production lines, and so on. So what does this mean for you?
Well, if your business is involved in the running of expensive and heavy machinery, and you would like an effective tool to enable you to diagnose, manage and operate your machinery more safely, and efficiently, then look no further!
Apart from providing you with a continual analysis as to the performance, reliability, efficiency and safety of your machinery, RDMS' feature-recognition algorithms have provided owners with a detailed insight and an early warning mechanism into the maintenance needs and performance issues of any type of industrial machine(s).
If RDMS is of interest to your business, ring Industry TechLink on 1800 111 485 and speak with a technology consultant today.
Think 'Lean' and win lucrative contracts
If one of your key customers goes 'lean', guess what? You're going lean too or you risk losing that customer. The gains from 'lean manufacturing' can't be sustained without pushing the improvements of 'lean manufacturing' through your supply chain.
In Boeing's lean manufacturing missile plant in the United States, a large sign board outside the assembly area lists all of the corporation's gold, silver and bronze suppliers.
The winds of change fast approaching! Now is the time to start planning how your firm can adopt the principles of 'lean manufacturing'. It is easier than you may think. Industry TechLink can help guide you through the 'lean' journey so that you are well prepared to become a supplier to a major Tier One manufacturer.
To receive a complimentary 'lean' manufacturing fact sheet ring Industry TechLink on 1800 111 485.
