The usual way to do it is to create a separate vfat partition to share
data. But don't wipe the linux partition just yet.

Ubuntu has a tool called gparted that can resize partitions. It claims
to support ntfs, but I've never tried it. Unfortunately, gparted won't
work on mounted partitions, so you won't be able to use it alone to
resize your linux partition.

If you're comfortable with the commandline, then it might be worth
looking in to gparted's CLI brother, parted. Documentation and boot disk
images can be found at http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/parted.html .
