Do, as root:
yum install gcc
and it will do the necessary for you.
Easy eh?
You should use yum (or apt) anyway, just to keep up to date.
Have a read of the 'Keeping up to date' doc
at http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/updates/
If you're feeling adventurous, you can setup your own yum repos.
