I have ClarkConnect set up as a file/print server.

I can access the /share directory and have managed to set up a 2nd hard drive for mu user as /data and I can access that.

I'm trying to set up a DVDRW on the Server to be accessed by my user to read/write dvdr/rw and cdr/rw discs.

This is what I have in smb.conf

[DVDRW]
comment = dvdrw drive on clarkconnect box
create mask = 0644
valid users = bill,@bill
writeable = yes
locking - no
path = /mnt/hdc

The DVDRW shows up on my linux workstation in LinNeighborhood, and also in Win XP, but I can't access it. Entering my user password fails.

I gather that the DVDRW should be a "Share", and I have probably got it set up as a directory instead.

What am I doing wrong?

Should I be symlinking the DVDRW to the /share directory?

Advice please.

Bill
