Sounds like it. Is this what you get from boot (dmesg)?
You can run a SMART test with "smartctl -t <test-name>". Read its
manual carefully
to decide which test you want.
Apparently smartctl managed to recover a disk with bad blocks for me.
Do you have smartd running on this system?
