James thanks, problem is that kmail already grabbed the /var.../inbox and 
saved it internally. Google + RFM (and I do not like their manual, no index 
and yech format of real info) but try try and it turns our kmail can create a 
folder in maildir or in mbox format. Makeing a mbox folder solved the 
problem.

<grump> kmail actually is the best featured mailer I've used, just given me 
the most fatal-errors I've ever had
