Hi Paul,
Read /usr/share/doc/kppp/README.Debian. To add your account to the dip
group, try a command like this as root (with your non-root username in
there):
adduser username dip
To fix the kppp-options file, give this command:
echo noauth > /etc/ppp/peers/kppp-options
