ok couple of questions.

1. what make brand of video card.
2, what version of Linux ie distribution (not the kernel version we know that)
3. is this a fresh install or are you using your old install from the hardisk.
4. attach a copy of /etc/X11/xorg.conf to your reply to the list
5. have you run the X config tool yet.
6 If your using a nvidia card have you tried the official nvidia driver. (nv isnt the official driver but it should work)
