Dude. Programming GUIs in C is so amazingly painful, it makes my eyes water just thinking about it. PyGTK is far less hassle, and if you want to leverage your existing knowledge, there's PerlGTK. I'd go looking for GTK bindings for Fortran before I ever use the native C GTK library again.
