you should get a green smiley and yes it will make a big
difference (ie. 2-3k/s to maxing out your adsl). you wont
have problems sending as with or without port forwarding
you will still be able to connect to others to send.
im also using a billion (not sure which model) - they are
horrible - anyway, i use 'SUA Only' nat mode, then click
edit details and go from there.
we port forward to all different machines in the local
network here at home (for bittorrent, msn/whatever im,
ssh and occasionally http for testing etc) - and yes
when we used azureus we had a green smiley. although i
would recommend a non-java torrent client. we changed
to bitcomet (we just have a dedicated machine running
windows which downloads around the clock) and it is
extremely less resource demanding.
that said. if you have set up port forwarding, you
might want to close and reopen azurues, or start stop
the torrent download. its realisation of the network
status (ie the smiley) is based on the interactions
of others - so sometimes it will take a while for a
green smiley and other times it will just stay blue.
but in general a 'healthy' torrent will get a green
face pretty fast.
torrent usage is a bit of a mystical art, i found it
a little bit of a learning curve at first but then
you get a good feel for it.
if you are getting poor downloads - be sure to prune
your uploads and also the number of incoming and outgoing
connections. on my 512/128 we set about 40k/s down and
7k/s up. which will usually max out both ways without
effecting browsing, email, im etc.

Yellow Smiley supposedly means that there is a problem with
port-forwarding, and using the Azureus "Test" confirms this, though I

always show it as blocked.
Given that these sites see my static IP, which is my modem/router, and
not my PC, and that Azureus works both Leeching and Seeding, am I
correct in believing that my setup is OK and that my downloads are slow
only because there are minimal Seeds and Peers at the time I am
downloading?
