SuSE is IMHO trivially easy to do. Spend a day. Install 2 or 3 times. Play 
with the result.

Even though SuSE will go gnome, SuSE10 is much better off installing the KDE 
desktop. Both KMAIL and konqeror are much more intuitive than evolution and 
gnome's file manager. I'm an elm and CLI junkie, so no baby ducks here, but 
I've setup 3/4 systems for ex winders family/friends.

So put in the DVD or CDs and follow the lead. Yast is really really your 
friend.
