I was considering looking for something similar for music, plus I wanted a portable device to which I could download images from my digital camera whilst travelling.

Bought a laptop instead, does all of the above and costs less than the total of separate ( albeit more portable) devices.

Laptop is plugged into my stereo and TV ( using laptops SVideo out) for playing music ( cds, mp3s, Internet Shoutcast audio) and DVDs.

I bought a Benq Joybook A32 e V01 for $1299 - Runs Knoppix LiveCD Hard Drive install perfectly.

Prices have dropped since my purchase from TXComputer Solutions, 89 York St, Sydney ( http://txcomputer.com.au) - Also at Auburn.

They allowed me to boot the Knoppix Live CD and to spend quite some time determining that all hardware was "discovered" - of course couldn't try WiFi ( still haven't - no connection) or internal modem ( have ADSL anyway).

No problems with Laptop to date.

Just my solution - may not suit you.
