Follow this link below;

I have 2 of those cards in a machine doing backend/frontend (not
connected to a TV).

To get that card working on a default out of the box Ubuntu 5.10
install you need to edit the /etc/modules file and add the following 2
lines

dst
dvb-bt8xx

Save and reboot. Then the kernel will load the extra 2 modules each
boot and the card is ready to roll with the out of box kernel
installed. Just then need to install some other stuff and then also
grab mythtv packages from repository.

I have a 15 step process on what needs to be done, so I can certainly
share this with anyone interested, however its by no means ready to
publish to public.

You could have a box installed in about 1hr or more (depending on your
connection to the internet for the extra packages).
