[SLUG] Asterisk running - what to do next

I managed to get Asterisk installed using Synaptic PM on ubuntu hoary. 
What do I need to get  for hardware and software add-ons in order to get 
my box running like a pbx, and take, transfer and answer calls, run 
voip, record voicemail etc?  .....Newbie.
