I need more info before I can help. Show your command line. As many said, you need the -x option for simple binds. Have you used the -D option to specify the DN of the user who has authority to add entries? What about your existing entries? What is your configuration? What works and what doesn't? I can only make wild guesses about what you are doing, so if you let us know, we can help.
