FWIW, activities isn't a strict subset of slug -- I'm not on slug.
Luckily I follow the archives... sort of. (I like slug events lots lots
lots more than I like slug discussion.)

Obviously this is resource dependent, but it would be good to spread
this to other universities too. MS careers stuff is nearly universal at
Macquarie too, and was getting off the ground at USyd when I graduated.
Ideally we'd have some kind of "students getting involved" template that
could be run at multiple universities.

It would be great to have some general "stories of my life" stuff,
perhaps as lightning talks. My experience is that students near
graduation are woefully ignorant of what they're meant to do next, with
the exception of three options:

 1. doing honours, because the university staff have an interest in
    promoting this
 2. doing postgraduate coursework (MBA, MIT...) because the university
staff also have an interest in promoting this
 3. entering a big corporation via the graduate intake, because this
form of recruitment is very organised

Given the high turnover of students (a new set every three years) having
the momentum to do this regularly would produce the best results.
