Just out of curiosity, have they considered running Windows under either
VMWare's free server offering or QEMU? That way they can keep all their
linuxy goodness and run the Windows based stuffs they need.
To be honest, I don't know if that is practical in their case. Besides
many of them
are scattered around the globe working from home most of the time coming
to their
offices once or twice a week. Linux are now mainly used as servers
and gateways.
They have all sorts of servers because their company grew by
acquisitions of companys
with disparate and variety of systems.
But I know almost all their work stations issued to staff are now
laptaps running Windows.
There are about 25,000 staff in their company.
My point here is it appears Linux is losing the battle on the Desktop
arena although Linux is
quite strong in the Server arena.
I hope this is useful information.
