Have installed Kubuntu 6.06 from LiveCD - everything works OK so far, EXCEPT for the keyboard, which works fine directly from the LiveCD.

Shift and 1, 2, 3 , parentheses and split-verical ( can't remember its name) keys give wrong symbols

ie shift @ gives " and vice-versa.

Having no "hatchmark" key is a real pain when editing files.

No help from Google or so far from Kubuntu-org forums, nor anything on Ubuntu forums.

On install, keyboard was selected as US. KDE has been updated. Still no fix.

Suggestions please - which file do I need to check for keyboard type and which file could I maybe copy from LiveCD boot to hard-disk install?

Always a new problem and always something else to learn.

Thanks

Bill
