Right - on pre-edgy releases, that was actually quite hard to do, because no
one had spent the time to make it easier (the kernel packages were designed
to be built on the buildds and that's really the only use case we focused on
until recently - mostly because using the distro kernel is the majority use
case).

For earlier releases, what you're doing is about right - what isn't correct
