I've just bought a 320gb drive in a usb case for backup. It's going to be used for mac and linux, so I formatted it HFS+
Is there any difference in write speed between different filesystems? Or any other gotchas I should have thought about? I've used HFS because Ubuntu seems to understand it well, but I wasn't sure about the Macintosh concept of a Unix filesystem. This was an easy way to deal with it.
