Hi,
Last year I dropped in to your SLUG meet just to remind your members
that RuxCon was on as we were setting up at UTS the night befor. A lot
of them were VERY unhappy as they hadnt heard that it was on at all that
year and had made other plans
I couldnt make it to your meet last week and I didnt want to spam your
mailing list so I was hoping one of you would pass the info on to your
mailing list.
RuxCon is on the long weekend again on the 30th Sep/1st Oct at UTS
Ive attached some info at the end of this email and more is on the website
Also there are still places open for more presentations if anyone is
interested
Thanks for any help with this :)
Dave

RuxCon is on again in Sydney Australia. RuxCon is an IT Security
Conference run by members of the IT Security industry. Due to the
diverse backgrounds and interests of RuxCon staff, the conference boasts
a broad range of technical and non technical topis such as reverse
engineering, identity crime, cryptography, code analysis, computer
forensics and social engineering techniques.
The conference, held over two days (30 09 06 and 01 10 06) at the
University of Technology, Sydney provides for attendees of all
backgrounds to enjoy themselves whilst expanding their awareness of
computer security.
RuxCon is comparable to its more famous American counterpart, the DEFCON
conference. RuxCon, however provides a unique Australian flavour and a
chance to 'rux' it up with the many animated characters that make up the
fabric of the colourful Australian security community.
RuxCon is not just about presentations, there are many activities on
offer to keep the attendees interested. Activities range from the light
hearted chilli eating competition and computer trivia quiz, right up to
the competitive Capture the Flag tournament. Capture the Flag involves
players "hacking" into machines specifically setup by RuxCon organisers.
$60 will cover you for two days worth of talks and experience, making it
accessible to anyone who is genuinely interested in computer security.
More information is available on our website and RuxCon staff and
presenters are always available for questions or interviews. They can be
reached via e-mail at
[EMAIL PROTECTED].
Regards,
RUXCON Staff
