Not a problem at all. The setup for this can be quite involved - your
best bet would be going with a dedicated Asterisk distribution such as
Trixbox. It will install a Redhat based OS on a machine (wiping
everything else!) with all the asterisk goodies you'll need to get
started. www.trixbox.org has all the goodies.

I tried out Asterisk on a Ubuntu (Breezy) machine IBM Netvista P4 1.8GHz
128 RAM and with a softphone (Xten) on a windows client machine but the
quality of service leaves a lot to be desired. Any suggestions for hard
phones which might work better? Plus I am having problems with the
Ubuntu OS crashing in screensaver mode on this particular machine,
irrespective of whether asterisk is installed or not.
Apart from TRIXbox [EMAIL PROTECTED] is also offering a dedicated
server-cum-os solution "CentOS" I think it's called - although I have
not tried out any of these yet.
