I'm trying to install VMware workstation on a lappy with 2 interfaces,
eth0 and ra0.
It appears, as far as I can make out, that the vmware-config.pl script
only identifies interfaces of type "eth?" and knows nothing about any
other interface type, and hence does not present the ra0 interface as an
option.
I also tried installing VMware Player and in that the config allows you
to select which interfaces you want to configure, including multiples.
However, VMware Player does not seem to allow you to create new vm guests.
Any ideas or suggestions?
From memory, yeah vmware-config.pl doesn't really ask you about other
interfaces.
You should be able to force vmware to use ra0 by hand editing
/etc/vmware/locations and replacing all instances of eth0 for ra0.
YMMV though on how well this all works I guess depending on what sort of
security you're connecting to your wireless network on, although I
thought this was all supposed to be "supported" these days by VMWare
Workstation.
