There is another option.  I have a Nokia 6630, though any Symbian 
phone should do.  It syncs using SyncML to an online calendar service 
called Mobical[1].  The synchronisation goes over GPRS, so can be done 
anywhere.  That way, no need to talk to a desktop and the calendar is 
available everywhere.

Calendar/contact app is pretty good, though iCal support would be nice.

I have a friend who swears by Yahoo's calendar and some little app that 
synchronizes it to the phone.
