I *can* install vmware windows, IE then downloads plugins and it works 
http://www.brr.com.au

I've not tried IE with crossover, when I've used it it was not robust, so I 
rejected that solution. 
I can live with vmware, but there must be a solution.
This windows stuff is alien; can I get the required codec from the vmware 
machine ?
