Once you've '/home/user/.asoundrc' with dmix set up, it's not reallly an issue.

Personally, after trying them all out I settled on using mplayer from the
command line. It operates faster and more efficiently in terms of
memory than any GUI based app, most of which use ALSA anyway.

Eg,

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Media/Audio$ mplayer -playlist *****.ram [or .wav or .mp3
or whatever]
MPlayer 2:0.99+1.0pre8-0ubuntu8 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team
.. [and so on] ..

Getting you head around 'man mplayer' can be a bit daunting at first
but in practice you only need a few relevant commands unless you wish
to become an mplayer guru.

It's a good idea to have a comprehensive codec selection and update
frequently, simple on debian based systems.

The difficult bit can be getting the initial *.ram or .asx files
for streaming media, and staying in touch with changes on their websites.

Cheers,

Adam.
