Quite right (about browsing package lists). That's what "apt-cache search" was invented for ...:^) Also, at least in Aptitude, I've just found the "View->New Debtags Browser" which allows browsing by debian tags. I'm not sure how much I like it but maybe it's easier than "ara" or the other debian-archive command line query tools. For now, "apt-cache search" (and consequentially "apt-cache show") is by far my most prefered method for finding the right tools.
