Hi Michael,

I had something similar on Christmas day, just before I was about to 
use xmms to play random tracks to guests!

1) Do the apt-get update thing a day later. then dist-upgrade.

        AND/OR

2) Keep apt-get installing and eventually everything will be there.

Yes I was cursing Debian for a while. But Crikey, it's beena while since the
last difficult upgrade.

With much fear and hesistation, I did the same thing a week later on 
A VERY IMPORTANT MACHINE. No problems.
