Thanks to you and others who replied. I ended up using mutt's "^K" to extract most of the keys, though quite a few were sent in a way that this didn't work, so I had to manually save the keys into a file and to the --import as you suggested. I'm not sure what was different about these keys except that apparently they weren't sent using caff :). I was hoping to be able to avoid the manual work but it turned out not to be too bad when mutt was on my side...
