I hate to play (wenwe were in Zimbawbe ...) but rpm has *never* left me up the creek without a paddle:
apt-get install kde4base-dev dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/kde4base-data_3.80.3-0ubuntu1~edgy1_all.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/kde4/share/config/khotnewstuffrc', which is also in package kde4libs-data dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe) Unpacking kde4base (from .../kde4base_3.80.3-0ubuntu1~edgy1_i386.deb) ... dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/kde4base_3.80.3-0ubuntu1~edgy1_i386.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/kde4/bin/khotnewstuff', which is also in package kdelibs5 dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe) Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/kde4base-data_3.80.3-0ubuntu1~edgy1_all.deb /var/cache/apt/archives/kde4base_3.80.3-0ubuntu1~edgy1_i386.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) or apt-get install swat Which takes some advanced making out (install xinetd, create a /etc/xinet.d/swat file) to get running I guess if that if everyone believes the wonderful toy is truly wonderful then the cracks never get to be fixed.
