What I found interesting, amongst many, were the comments made in the "Unix Transitioner" part.

MS have written, under "Drivers and Motivations for Linux Usage"

* Believe Open Source software is safe to deploy and can reduce costs.

* Moving to Linux because of its price rather than superior technology.

These are two very telling and, ultimately, exposing comments.

It is only a 'belief' that OSS is safe and reduces cost. This reminds me of comments about illicit drug users.

The prohibitionists point out all 'dangerousness' of illicit drugs. For instance, Ecstasy user 'believe' it's safe, Marijuana users 'believe' it is safe.

I also like that the move to Linux has nothing to do with the technology, it's really about the misguided notion that it will be cheaper.

The people who approved this are attempting to appear as if they are arguing merits, but they find it difficult to say this without making slights and asides. You can hear them in the wings, almost sotto voce "It's bad, it's bad, you know it, you know it..." to paraphrase Michael Jackson.

It's like those people who want to be groovy and hip but cannot resist putting on "The Chicken Dance" at their party. They constantly expose what they're *really* like.

Regards,

Patrick
