I'm having trouble with my (jvds) virtual server running out of
resources:

> [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps ax
> bash: fork: Cannot allocate memory

Before I take the knee-jerk reaction of adding more memory, I was
wondering what trouble shooting steps I should take eg trying to find
processes using too much memory, opening too many files, etc.

The resources web page for the virtual server highlights this as a
problem:

kmemsize
actual: 3,976,113
soft limit: 4,000,000
hard limit: 4,000,000 bytes
Size of unswappable memory, allocated by the operating system kernel

This is also high:

numproc
actual: 48
soft limit: n/a
hard limit: 65 pcs
Number of processes and kernel-level threads allowed for VPS

Would adding memory actually solve the problem? Thanks for any
suggestions,
