Dear all SLUG members,

I hope the diversity of mailing list I have chosen to send this to
reaches all our SLUG members.
We will take the discussion of constitutional changes entirely onto
"activites@" after this announcement.

Over the last few months it has become apparent that we require to
make a few changes and additions to the constitution.

Amongst these changes are:
* the creation of a corporate membership,
* the correction of notice times,
* the addition of a mailing-list policy, and
* changes to the process of becoming a member (in line with changes of LA).

Rule 37 of our current constitution requires that an alteration of the
constitution needs to be amended through a special resolution of the
association in a general meeting to be announced by the committee.

The committee discussed the issues at hand. In view of the complexity,
the SLUG committee has accepted a motion to create a sub-committee in
accordance with rule 21 of the current SLUG constitution.

This sub-committee has delegation from the committee to prepare a
document with the proposed constitutional changes and bring it back to
the SLUG committee by 7th July.

The sub-committee is chaired by James Polley.

The sub-committee may meet and adjourn as it thinks proper.
James will start with an email on the activities mailing list.

This email constitutes a written delegation to the sub-committee.

SLUG members are encouraged to join James in the preparation of the
amendment document.

Best Regards,
Silvia Pfeiffer.
