Want to make the most of your computer in a cost-efficient manner? Sick of
feeling locked into vendors and file formats? Interested in Linux, free
software and open source[1]? Come to the SLUG Bootcamp!

The event will run from 10am to 6pm on this Saturday (19 May).

The full announcement is at the SLUG Web site[2].

HP have sponsored us with rooms, computers and other facilities at their
campus at Rhodes. Car parking is plentiful, and Rhodes railway station is
only a short walk away.

Our main target audience are users of Windows or Mac OS who already have a
fair idea of how to use their computers, but are interested in alternatives.
We will be showing how easy it is to achieve common tasks in Linux, as well
as some more novel things.

Visitors can bring their laptops, and we will try to assist with installing
Linux, in a dual-boot configuration if required. Unfortunately, HP security
will not permit desktop computers to enter or leave the premises.

We are also looking for people to assist with running the event, either as a
presenter or as a general helper. We have a schedule[3] and notes[4] page on
the SLUG wiki. If you are interested in helping, please e-mail the Activities
list[5] or the Committee[6].

Hope to see you there!
