I have a friend's WinXP that has died because of severe viral infection.
I'm rebuilding it with the following steps:
Boot into Feisty live CD
Backup the entire drive to external USB
Clean re-install of Windows
Install Feisty
Boot Feisty
Install ntfs-3g
restore entire drive back into a folder on Windows partition
During the restore, I get the following error on some directories/files:
cp cannot create directory: "foo" Invalid or incomplete
myltibyte or wide character
I get the impression that all the files or folders are of German origin,
so there could easily be an encoding problem of some sort.
Any suggestions what to do about it?
