Education Expo 2007[1] will be on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June. Linux
Australia will be looking[2] towards repeating the success experienced last
year, when it found itself to be the most popular stand.

If you are interested in helping with or participating at the stand, please
contact Pia Waugh.

It so happens that there is a SLUG meeting on the Friday after the Expo (29
June). For the SLUGlets segment, we would like to have a
children's/educational theme. Would anybody be interested in giving an
informal talk along this line? For instance, the topics could include:

* the status of FOSS for children/education
* a demonstration of FOSS for children (educational, games, etc.)
* an exploration on how more general FOSS can be used for educational purposes
(e.g. OpenOffice or Scribus for school assignments)

A talk does not have to take up the entire SLUGlets time slot - we could have
multiple talks, as well as some Q&A. SLUGlets talks are generally more
informal and conversational than the General and Technical talks, so there's
no need to feel intimidated :)

"It turns out Luddites don't know how to use software properly, so you should
look into that. - The reason we come up with new versions is not to fix bugs.
It's absolutely not. It's the stupidest reason to buy a new version I ever
heard. When we do a new version we put in lots of new things that people are
asking for. And so, in no sense, is stability a reason to move to a new
version. It's never a reason." - Bill Gates, FOCUS Magazine, no. 43, 1995
