hi all,

I am running kubuntu feisty on my toshiba satellite P100.

As I found out, there ar lots of Satellite P100 models, so here are some more
details about my machine.
system-version:PSPA3A-05S00P, bios-version:V3.30

Reason for this post is my sound, it's not working.
I found a How-To for a Gentoo install on a P100 (http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Toshiba_Satellite_P100) which is way out of my league by the way.
There is stated that alsa and the Conexant codec are not working well together.

Here's what I tried:

I checked which audio codec I have:

cat /proc/asound/cards
 0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xd2500000 irq 21

head -n 1 /proc/asound/card0/codec*
Codec: Conexant CX20551 (Waikiki)

I went to http://acpi.sourceforge.net
and looked for my model http://acpi.sourceforge.net/dsdt/view.php?id=752
which means I installed
   Toshiba-Satellite_P100-JR100E-3.30-custom.asl
as my DSDT.

sudo cp dsdt.aml /etc/initramfs-tools/DSDT.aml (used case sensitive!)
  Toshiba-Satellite_P100-JR100E-3.30-custom.asl.gz from
http://acpi.sourceforge.net/dsdt/view.php was used
sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.20-15-generic
reboot
Whith the above mentioned asl file the sound is working, but the ACPI seems to
be off as the fans are running all the time.

One thing what troubled me here was that there are plentey of P100 models listed but mine was not in the list or at least that's what I think.

One thing I like to know is how can I find a better matching DSDT fiel to my
model?
Many of the listed P100 models have a naming like "P100-xxx" yet my model is "P100
PSPA3A-05S00P".
Is there a way to find model numbers via the console??
the stickers on the back tell me nothing else?

Any help is welcome.

Cheers

Sebastian

PS: keep in mind, I am at the verry beginning of my linux adventure
