Hi Amos, Thanks for you comments. I don't use "sendmail" for emailing, I just have the default "pop/smtp" for that. And yes, I realize "rsh" is insecure (although any access to my second machine requires a login and password; you can't perform any non-interactive "rsh <command>" type operations). At the moment the other machine has got Slackware 7 (what a terrible confession), and doesn't have an "sshd", so it probably won't support "ssh" logins (I haven't tried, I guess I should). I just use the second machine for some backups. It may be primitive, but it is ultra reliable: it ran uninterrupted for about 500 days before a power outage brought it down. I guess I need to install more up-to-date software on it, but I just haven't had the time.
