use mplayer on the command line, and see what the .mov files encoders are

mplayer filename.mov

it will spit out what its trying to use to load it, then try and load it. there is most likely a command switch to just provide various data about the file and then exit

man mplayer

*shrug*

i am yet to find something that mplayer wont open.

Hi all,

Recently obtained some video tutorials relating to Apache, PHP and MySQL
however they are in quicktime .mov format and I cant seem to get the video
to play.

I have tried gxine, mplayer, VLC and I am ashamed to say RealPlay - I cant
believe the people that made these tutorials didnt think to use a format
that was actually readable under Linux.

So long story short - Can anyone tell me how to get Quicktime to play under
Linux? (and preferably Ubuntu)
