I notice a huge difference in speed with the number of emails. I have pretty good hardware but my slug folder can slow at times. Sometimes the indexes get stuffed up so I remove the indexing and let it be rebuilt. If I remove everything but slug, the indexes rebuild automatically on restart. -rw------- 1 ken ken 204M Sep 10 20:42 slug -rw-r--r-- 1 ken ken 208 Sep 10 20:51 slug.cmeta -rw------- 1 ken ken 9.8M Sep 10 20:42 slug.ev-summary -rw------- 1 ken ken 1.9M Sep 10 20:42 slug.ev-summary-meta -rw------- 1 ken ken 3.2M Sep 2 22:29 slug.ibex.index -rw------- 1 ken ken 32M Sep 2 23:18 slug.ibex.index.data There are filters (moving messages around) and rules (they stay in place but are selectable). I never use rules because they take a long time on large sets. Remember to empty trash. The mails stay in the folder until the trash is emptied and this can affect file size therefore performance. -- Ken Foskey FOSS developer -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
